TracFone Wireless got it’s start in 1996 in Miami, Florida.  Geared toward providing customers with a wide range of service options, they offer various services such as Total Wireless, NET10 Wireless, and Safelink wireless. Safelink wireless provides free smartphones with limited voice call minutes and internet data for low income families. Specifically these people are U.S. citizens that have met the federal government’s requirements to be defined as “low-income”. There are several other companies offering free cell phones and discounted service, but the Safelink wireless generally proves superior. As there are a lot of Safelink customers in the U.S., there are plenty of phones that are reported stolen or missing.

Once you’ve qualified for a Safelink phone and plan, there are, like any cell phone company, several terms and conditions you must accept before gaining access to your new phone. One of the steps in this process involves acknowledging certain restrictions when it comes to replacing a Safelink lost or stolen phone.

Safelink Customers Receive Only One Replacement Phone

Let’s face it, no phone lasts forever. It may be broken, lost or stolen at any time, and of course, customers always search for a solution to replace a non-working or missing phone. Safelink plays a vital role in this field. Safelink provides a free government cell phone if a customer’s phone is lost or stolen. But the customer has to purchase it under a few specific terms and conditions. The main and most important condition is that only one Safelink replacement phone will be allowed per customer, per contract.  On top of this, the replacement is not exactly free, as it will come with a replacement cost.

The Replacement Order Will Be A Refurbished Phone

Safelink provides only a refurbished phone for a customer who has lost their smartphone. It is not their policy to provide a new cell phone for lost and stolen phones. On the other hand, the customer has an opportunity to purchase a new Safelink smartphone if they lost their cell phone recently. Most U.S. cities have Safelink customer care and the hotline number to make an emergency call in the case of a lost or stolen phone. Customer care holds the existing phone and remaining minutes and texts. After the customer purchases the new phone, they will transfer the remaining minutes and text SMS to the phone.

Safelink Permanently Deactivates The Lost or Stolen Phone

If you are a registered customer of Safelink Wireless, the lost or stolen phone will permanently be deactivated. Of course along with this, you will lose your valuable data, text, voice call minutes and contract numbers. The refurbished Safelink Smartphone issued by Safelink retailers will get back your remaining minutes and text, but they don’t have the ability to recover your data from the lost or stolen phone. The only way contacts and data could be restored is if the lost or stolen phone is recovered and brought to a Safelink retail location where it can be synched to the new phone.

Every Replacement Phone Will Provide 10 Minutes Of Lost Airtime

Another great benefit of being a Safelink customer is you will get 10 minutes of lost airtime back when they get a replacement phone. However, in order to take full advantage of this, customers should try to report a stolen phone ASAP so that any additional minutes not used by the owner aren’t counted against them.

Customers Have To Buy A New One After Losing The Replacement Phone

Safelink delivers a free cell phone if your own phone is lost or stolen. As mentioned before, you will still have to pay a small fee to have the phone activated, but otherwise not much trouble is made in this process. However, if you lose your replacement phone or unfortunately it is stolen, then you must purchase an additional new phone. After losing the replaced phone, Safelink will take no responsibility to provide another replacement for your lost or stolen cell phone. After that, it will be fully your liability to manage your new cell phone.

Customers Will Get A New One If The Phone Is Lost Or Stolen At The Time Of Transit

If a customer’s cell phone is stolen or lost, Safelink will provide every customer a government cell phone. But sometimes the customer doesn’t get the phone for some reason. If a cell phone is lost or stolen at the time of transit before the customer receives the phone, then Safelink will take full responsibility to replace the phone. Customers don’t have to worry about the replacement. Safelink makes sure it is delivered to the customer, free of charge.
